Givebutter is a fine choice for an established nonprofit that wants text-to-donate, wealth screening and a deeper CRM alongside its fundraising pages, and whose donors are used to covering fees and tips at checkout. It is a mature platform with a broad feature set.
Common questions
Is Fund My Squad really free, and is Givebutter?
Fund My Squad charges organizers 0% on donations, products, auctions and raffles; ticket buyers pay a flat $1 per ticket. Givebutter is 0% for organizers only while donor tips are enabled; accounts created since September 9, 2025 that turn tips off pay a flat 3% platform fee.
What does a supporter pay on a $100 donation on each?
On Fund My Squad, $103.30 with processing included and no tip, or $111.30 with the default $8 tip; the organizer receives $100. On Givebutter, a supporter who keeps the reported default 15% tip and covers processing pays $118.20; one who declines both pays $100. The organizer receives $100 either way (Givebutter absorbs processing when the donor declines it).
Can a booster club that isn't a nonprofit use Givebutter?
Yes. Givebutter accepts any organization, including booster clubs and individuals; nonprofit verification is optional. Fund My Squad also accepts any group, including for-profit businesses.
What does a $25 ticket cost the buyer on each?
On Fund My Squad the buyer pays $27.09 ($1 platform fee plus $1.09 processing) and the organizer receives $25. On Givebutter the buyer pays $29.78 with the reported default 15% tip and processing covered, or $25 if they decline both; the organizer receives $25.
Can I switch from Givebutter mid-season?
Yes. Export your contacts from Givebutter and import the CSV into the Fund My Squad donor CRM. Recurring donors will need to set up their gift again on the new page. There are no contracts or cancellation fees on either side.
