Is Fund My Squad really free?
Yes. Organizers pay no platform fees, no monthly subscriptions, and no setup costs. You create an account, launch your fundraiser or event, and start collecting money immediately. Standard Stripe payment processing fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) apply and are included in the supporter's total. Ticket buyers also pay a flat $1.00 platform fee per ticket, so you always receive the full ticket price you set.
How does Fund My Squad make money?
When supporters donate, they see an optional prompt to leave a tip to Fund My Squad. The suggested tip is never more than 10% and goes down as gifts go up — 10% under $50, 8% from $50 to $199.99, 5% at $200 and above — and it is capped at $25 no matter the gift size. “No tip” is always a visible button, and any tip is refundable with one click for 30 days. Can donors cover the processing fee?
Processing is covered automatically. Stripe processing (2.9% + $0.30) is included in the supporter's total by default — there is no checkbox to find — so you receive the full donation or ticket price you set. Tips to Fund My Squad are separate and always optional.
Do I need a nonprofit status?
No. Fund My Squad works for any group — youth sports teams, school programs, booster clubs, fraternities/sororities, dance studios, community organizations, and individuals. Unlike Zeffy (which requires 501(c)(3) status), FMS serves both nonprofit and for-profit organizations.
How do I get my money?
Funds are deposited directly to your connected bank account via Stripe. Donations are held securely while your fundraiser runs and released about a week after it ends, then take 1-2 business days to reach your bank. Fundraisers without an end date pay out on a rolling monthly basis. The hold protects both organizers and donors against fraud, and there are no minimum thresholds.
What payment methods do you support?
All major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Apple Tap to Pay for in-person sales. Payments are processed securely through Stripe.
