Where the money actually goes
Written for the treasurer who has to justify this to a board, the parent deciding whether to hand over a card, and the district officer reviewing us as a vendor.
We never hold your money
Donations go into a Stripe account connected to your own organization, not into a Fund My Squad bank account. We are not a middleman holding your balance — we do not have the ability to spend it, lend it, or lose it.
Payouts land in your US bank account through Stripe Connect. Once released, funds reach the bank in one to two business days.
Why funds are held before payout
Donations stay in your connected Stripe account while your fundraiser runs and are released about a week after your end date. Fundraisers with no end date are released on a rolling basis, roughly 30 days after the money is collected.
This is deliberate, and it protects both sides. It is the window in which a stolen card or a disputed donation surfaces. Releasing money instantly would mean clawing it back from a booster club that had already spent it.
What it costs, stated plainly
Fund My Squad charges a 0% platform fee. Organizers keep 100% of what they raise apart from card processing costs.
The platform is funded by optional tips supporters can choose to add at checkout. Tips are always optional and always visible before payment — never a default that has to be hunted down and switched off.
Stripe charges 2.9% + $0.30 per card payment. Donors can choose to cover that, in which case the organizer receives the full intended amount. Every fee is broken down on screen before a donation is confirmed.
Everyone collecting money is identity-verified
Individual organizers complete KYC verification through Stripe: government ID, address and banking details. Organizations additionally complete KYB verification with their legal name, entity type, tax ID and address.
This is why the signup flow asks for the last four digits of a Social Security Number. It is federal identity law for anyone collecting funds, it is not a credit check, and Fund My Squad never sees or stores it — it goes directly to Stripe.
The practical effect is that an anonymous stranger cannot raise money on this platform.
Card details never touch our servers
Payments are processed by Stripe, which is PCI compliant. Card numbers are entered into Stripe and go to Stripe. They do not pass through, and are not stored by, Fund My Squad.
All data in transit is encrypted over TLS. Account authentication runs through AWS Cognito.
Fraud and sanctions screening
Transactions are screened against OFAC sanctions lists and monitored automatically for fraud patterns.
Campaigns carry a risk rating, and higher-risk campaigns get manual human review before they can collect. Donations involving prohibited jurisdictions are refunded automatically.
Young people
Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian manage their account and provide consent.
We collect the minimum information needed for a young person to take part. Parents can review, change or delete their child’s information at any time.
Refunds and disputes
Donations are generally non-refundable, except in cases of fraud, sanctions violations, or at Fund My Squad’s discretion. Donations from prohibited jurisdictions are refunded automatically.
If you recognize a charge from FUND MY SQUAD on your statement but are not sure what it was for, call us before you dispute it. We can usually identify the fundraiser in a couple of minutes, and a phone call costs the team you supported a great deal less than a chargeback does.
Who you are dealing with
A real company at a real address, reachable by a real phone number during business hours. These are the same details registered with Stripe, so they match what your card issuer has on file.
