Where Zeffy is a fine choice
Zeffy is a fine choice for a registered nonprofit, particularly one in Canada, that wants every fee absorbed and is comfortable with its donors seeing a pre-selected contribution at checkout. If your organization has an EIN and a bank account in its name and raises mainly through donation pages, it does the job well.
Common questions
Is Fund My Squad really free like Zeffy?
Yes. Both charge organizers a 0% platform fee. The difference is in how each is funded. Zeffy absorbs card processing and asks donors for a pre-selected contribution (reported at 15–17%). Fund My Squad includes Stripe processing (2.9% + $0.30) in the supporter total by default and asks for an optional tip that is never more than 10%, capped at $25, with "No tip" always visible. Ticket buyers pay a flat $1 per ticket. Either way the organizer receives the full amount they set.
What does a supporter pay on a $100 donation on each platform?
On Fund My Squad, $103.30 with processing included and no tip, or $111.30 with the default $8 tip; the organizer receives $100. On Zeffy, a supporter who keeps the reported default 15% contribution pays $115; one who declines it pays $100. The organizer receives $100 either way.
Can a booster club that isn't a 501(c)(3) use Zeffy?
No. Zeffy requires a registered nonprofit with an EIN and a bank account in the organization's name, and does not accept individuals. Fund My Squad accepts any group, including for-profit businesses and individuals, in the United States.
Does Zeffy have a mobile app and Tap to Pay?
Yes. Zeffy offers a check-in app for QR e-tickets and a Tap to Pay app for in-person payments. Fund My Squad adds offline check-in with automatic sync, cash and comp door sales, and Apple and Google Wallet passes on every ticket.
Can I switch from Zeffy mid-season?
Yes. Export your contacts from Zeffy as a CSV and import them into the Fund My Squad donor CRM, then create your next event or fundraiser. There is no contract, setup fee or minimum on either platform.
