Where GoFundMe is a fine choice
GoFundMe is a fine choice for a one-off personal cause: medical bills, an emergency, a memorial. It has enormous reach, donors recognize it, and there is nothing to set up beyond the page itself. It is not built to run a season of events for a team.

Is Fund My Squad free like GoFundMe?
Both charge a 0% platform fee. GoFundMe deducts a 2.9% + $0.30 transaction fee from each donation, which the donor cannot cover, and adds 5% on recurring donations. Fund My Squad includes processing in the supporter total by default so the organizer receives the full gift, and charges nothing extra for recurring gifts.
What does a supporter pay on a $100 donation on each?
On Fund My Squad, $103.30 with no tip or $111.30 with the default $8 tip; the organizer receives $100. On GoFundMe, a donor who keeps the reported default tip of around 15% pays $115 and one who moves the slider to $0 pays $100; the organizer receives $96.80 either way, or $91.80 on a recurring gift.
Can a booster club use GoFundMe?
Yes. Anyone can start a GoFundMe, including teams and clubs, and it offers team pages. It has no ticketing, auctions, raffles, product sales or donor CRM, so most groups use it for a single appeal rather than a season.
Can I sell event tickets on GoFundMe?
No. GoFundMe has no ticketing. Fund My Squad sells tiered tickets with QR codes and Apple and Google Wallet passes, checks them in offline, and takes walk-up sales with Tap to Pay, cash or comps.
Can I move from GoFundMe mid-season?
Yes. Withdraw your GoFundMe balance as usual, then launch on Fund My Squad. GoFundMe does not export a donor list, so your Fund My Squad CRM starts with your next gift.
